Why Would I Want Invisalign?

If you’re not happy with the looks of your teeth or you feel embarrassed to smile, then Invisalign may be the solution for you. It can be used to treat a number of complaints, such as:

  • Overbite – Upper front teeth close in front of the lower teeth

  • Underbite – Lower teeth protrude past upper front teeth

  • Crossbite – Upper & lower jaws don’t line up

  • Gappy Teeth – Extra spaces between teeth

  • Open Bite – Top & bottom teeth don’t meet

  • Crowded Teeth – There isn’t enough room in the jaw for teeth to fit normally

How Does Invisalign Work?

Before you even commence your Invisalign journey, your teeth straightening treatment will have already been planned out. Using Invisalign’s innovative technology, a 3d digital model of your teeth will determine the exact movements that are required, to take you from day one of uneven, crooked teeth, to your dream smile.

A series of clear Invisalign aligners will be fabricated for you to wear. Each aligner will be roughly worn for 2 weeks before you move on to the next one. Each aligner has been specifically made to move your teeth gradually. The beauty of Invisalign is that you will not have to visit the dentist as often as you would, if you had traditional braces. There will be no wire changes or tightenings. It will be a review appointment to check the progress of your treatment and to make any necessary changes to the plan as required. This will be every 6-8 weeks and you will be given the next set of aligners to wear.

The Benefits of Invisalign

  • Discreet Appearance: Invisalign aligners are made from a transparent, BPA-free plastic that is virtually invisible when worn. This means you can smile and speak confidently without the self-consciousness associated with traditional braces.

  • Comfortable Fit: Invisalign aligners are designed to fit snugly over your teeth, ensuring a comfortable experience without the irritation that can sometimes occur with braces.

  • Removable Convenience: Unlike traditional braces that are fixed in place, Invisalign aligners are removable. This means you can easily take them out while eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth. No food restrictions or intricate cleaning routines necessary!

  • Customised Treatment Plan: Each step of your Invisalign journey is meticulously planned using advanced computer algorithms. Your dentist will create a custom treatment plan, mapping out the gradual movement of your teeth until your ideal smile is achieved.

  • Predictable Results: Invisalign’s digital technology allows you to visualise your treatment progression from the beginning. This means you’ll have a clear idea of what to expect and how your smile will transform over time.

  • Fewer Appointments: Invisalign treatment generally requires fewer in-person appointments compared to traditional braces, making it a convenient option for those with busy schedules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Invisalign ranges between £1,500 – £3,800. The exact cost will depend on the severity of your case and how many aligners are required to straighten your teeth. For minor cases, Invisalign I7 may be suitable (7 aligners). For more moderate cases, Invisalign Lite (14 aligners). And for more complex cases, the full system may be suitable (unlimited aligners)

This will depend on the complexity of your case. To give a rough idea, each aligner is worn for roughly 2 weeks before moving onto the next set. So for Invisalign I7 (7 aligners) – 3.5 months. For Invisalign lite (14 aligners) – 7 months. Invisalign full is unlimited aligners based on your needs. The average number of aligners can vary between 20 – 48 aligners (10 to 18 months). But can be more or less, and is dependent on your requirements.

Invisalign teen can be suitable for patients as young as 13. Some children may need to wait till they are 15 or 16 for the teeth to settle first. There is no upward age limit to have your teeth straightened. It just depends on the health of your teeth and gums e.g. if you have gum disease you will not be a suitable candidate until that is treated and your teeth are stable.

It is recommend to wear the aligners for at least 18 hours a day. However, we recommend to only remove the aligners for eating, drinking and your oral healthcare routine. The longer you have the aligners out of your mouth, the longer it will take for you to complete your treatment plan.
